How We Rate Our Laminate Floors

For over 70 years Hosking Hardwood Flooring has been buying, selling, installing and refinishing all types of floors. Through our years of hands-on experiences we know how to tell a good floor from a poor one. Rather than bore our visitors with lots of terminology we have put together a 5 Star Rating System next to each product style your viewing so you can quickly see how the various floors compare to each other. Below is a brief description for each of the 5 star categories.

You may notice when searching a product that Jeff will give a particular manufacturer a higher star rating for a floor that may not fit a particular rating description below. This means that he is rating that particular manufacturer's overall quality as very high with regards to quality and appearance and price with all the styles they offer.

Laminate Flooring has different thicknesses the thickest version (12 mil) has the most sound absorption and solid feel under foot. The thinner the laminate floor is, the less sound absorption and solid feel you will have. Thicknesses available are 12 mil – 10 mil – 9-1/2 mil - 8 mil – 7 mil – 6 mil. 	Star Rating means these are the very Best Luxury Laminate flooring manufactured. Jeff rates these floors the highest for being the most visually appealing most accurate representation of the real Wood or Ceramic Tile flooring they try to mimic. These laminate floors are noted for having the best imaging clarity, best durability, easy installation and longest warranty.
	Star Rating means these floors are a notch below what we consider a 5 star Laminate floor to represent. These floors offer Better visual appeal, excellent durability and warranty all at a reduced cost.
	Star Rating is right in the middle of Jeff’s rating. This Laminate flooring has an Average appearance and Average clarity of print image with Good durability, warranty.
	Star Rating means this Laminate flooring may not have the very best clarity in appearance and durability. Warranties on this flooring may be limited to 5 years or less. This flooring is more for the budget minded person.
	Star Rating means this type of laminate flooring is usually sold by liquidator type stores and usually consists of it being a very thin 6 mil thick laminate floor that is not really visually appealing with little or no warranty offered. Durability and the life expectancy of these types of Laminates flooring is low. This flooring is more for the budget minded person.
