How We Rate Our Laminate Floors

For over 70 years, Hosking Hardwood Flooring has been buying, selling, installing and refinishing all types of floor types. Through our years of hands-on experiences, we know how to tell a good floor from a poor one. Rather than bore our visitors with lots of terminology, we have put together a 5 Star Rating System which can be found next to each product style you're viewing. This allows you to quickly gauge how the various floors compare to each other. Below is a brief description for each of the 5 star categories.

You may notice when searching a product that Jeff will give a particular manufacturer a higher star rating for a floor that may not fit a particular rating description below. This means that he is rating that particular manufacturer's overall quality as very high with regards to quality and appearance and price with all the styles they offer.

Laminate Flooring has different thicknesses the thickest version (12mm) has the most sound absorption and solid feel under foot. The thinner the laminate floor is, the less sound absorption and solid feel you will have. Thicknesses available are 12mm, 10mm, 9.5mm, 8mm, 7mm, and 6mm. See our Article on All About Laminate flooring for more important information on laminate flooring you should know before purchasing a laminate floor.

To the commenter below I would suggest you have someone come in that can evaluate where exactly the odor is comming from most likley something was spilled or applied on the floor or spilled somewhere in the house where it has permeated into the flooring. Didnt you notice this odor when looking at the house to buy? Perhaps you can contact the seller and ask them what happened or even have that local retailer come in to look at it? If your removing the flooring send a piece to a local lab to have them evaluate it to deturmin if the smell is coming from the wood.

Hello, We just purchased a house that was built in 2015. The house has Mannington Adura floor (ALP002) Product installed. The house have a sour smell, it goes away when we keep the windows open. However, it gives headache. It is obvious that smell is coming from the floor, can even smell it on the uninstalled piece that is left over.We are replacing all flooring to remediate the issue. I called company today to report it and they claimed they do not transfer warrantee with the home sale. I felt the need to post it here to start raising awareness of their practices. I did some research and they are certified for floor score via RFCI. I checked the website and they do not even have a phone number to call. This is a company that is playing with peoples heath and they do not even care if you get sick or die. Please spread the word and help save someones life. I cant even start to imagine what would someone do if they install this floor and cant afford to replace it. It will impact your
