1. Using the counter snap fixture, screw the counter snap screw into your hardwood floor, making sure that you're driving it down into a joist.

2. When the screw head hits the top of the fixture, the pressure will build and the screw will snap at 1/8 IN. below the surface of your floor.

3. The result has the mechanical holding strength of a screw, leaving a hole the size of a countersunk finishing nail. Simply fill the hole with a wood filler or putty, and you'll have 2 inches of hidden screw securing the subfloor to the joists and permanently getting rid of your squeak problem.
