To begin with you need to look at where you plan on installing your new wood floor. Some wood floors are limited in where they can be installed. This is especially true for the 3/4" solid wood floors. Because 3/4" solid hardwood floors are more susceptible to moisture, they are generally not recommended for basements, or installing over concrete slabs.
